The 100 People Foundation creates media and educational tools that simplify and humanize complex global statistics by looking at the world as a community of 100 people.
Pulo Island, Philippines
Each school day, the students of Pulo Elementary gather on the front lawn for morning exercises; they dance to music from a sound system that is powered by solar energy. Solar power has brought light, ventilation, and multimedia to this island school that previously had no electricity.
Friendswood, Texas, USA
NASA astronaut Dr. Leroy Chiao remembers watching the first Apollo mission on TV when he was eight years old. Four space missions, including six and a half months on the International Space Station, have taught him to see all people as citizens of one world. He sees a day when solar energy from space provides unlimited clean energy.
Boulder, Colorado, USA
The Klein family has always been committed to the environment. Jane, Michael and their son Johannes live by the mantra, "reduce, reuse, recycle." They practice what they preach, down to reusing jam jars as water glasses. When they heard about the Holiday housing development, says Michael, we thought, "why not put our money where our mouth is and move into a solar home?"
Jumilla, Spain
Agustín Carrión García's family has cultivated grapes for generations in his native Jumilla, a small town in southern Spain. Agustín and his family banded together with other farmers to start a solar farm cooperative. The electricity generated from the farm is sold back to the local utility through the cooperative. Agustín follows nature's cycle of growth and renewal, "the sun is life itself."
Muzuzu, Malawi
When Brave Mhouie celebrated his 23rd birthday in his home in Mzuzu, Malawi, he had much to celebrate. Brave’s work with SolarAid helped his family and neighbors harness solar energy to generate income and improve their way of life.
Brave now has the economic resources to pursue his goal of a career in medicine and some day use his medical training to give back to his community. SunPower Foundation is working with SolarAid to solarize schools in Malawi.

Adam Browning co-founded the Vote Solar Initiative in 2001 with the mission of changing government policy to make it easier and less expensive to go solar. He works with a team that has a hand in most of the solar policy activities around the US.
Perth, Australia
Darren has been a science teacher for over twenty-years. His students’ solar projects include: a solar-powered bicycle, a solar-powered reverse-osmosis water pump, and a solar car. Willetton Senior High School students plan to race their solar car in The World Solar Challenge—a competition that crosses the continent of Australia.

Converting sunlight into electricity is important for our future, but it’s only half the battle. Fifteen-year-old Mario Visinoni grasped the power of conservation at an early age. So when his sixth-grade science teacher asked him to teach younger students about solar energy, Mario brought in his leaning tool of choice: the Kilowatt meter.

The Xixuau~Xiparina Reserve was the first solar-powered community in Brazil, and is able to communicate on cricital land preservation activities and provide telemedicine for the village as a result. The SunPower Foundation is partnering with SELF to support expansion of solar at this critical rainforest reserve.
Lesotho, Africa
Partners in Health (PIH) is bringing health care to people around the world. SELF has partnered with PIH to help solarize their clinics, and SunPower has joined their partnership in Lesotho. We've provided a grant to solarize clinics in Lesotho. We hope to take this model to other countries PIH supports.
